The Prado at night
The Prado Museum will reopen its doors on summer nights in 2025 with an initiative that goes far beyond the usual. On the first Saturday of every month, different areas of the museum will be open free of charge during the night. The aim is not only to display art, but also to gradually bring it closer to everyone.
The experience includes more than just paintings and sculptures. There will be live music, surprising digital offerings and moments that connect with visitors in a different way. For example, visitors will be able to explore multimedia experiences developed in collaboration with Samsung over more than a decade: from the Prado Guide app to the chance to discover how some of the museum's works have become part of the visual universe of "The Frame", Samsung's well-known screen.
The next event has already been scheduled for Saturday, 2 August, with access via the ground floor of the Villanueva building. And there will be no shortage of details to make the evening special. The café will be open in several areas, and for those who enjoy radio, Radio 3 will broadcast live from the Jerónimos lobby a special programme about the Prado, featuring its regular journalists and DJs. A musical nod to an evening designed to be enjoyed with all the senses.
Back in February, in the first edition of the year, the museum surprised us with two unforgettable exhibitions: Darse la mano. Escultura y color en el Siglo de Oro (thanks to the AXA Foundation) and "Sigmar Polke". Afinidades desveladas, the first major exhibition in Madrid by the German artist, organised in collaboration with the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation and the City Council.
In addition, visitors will be able to pose at the photocall, and if you have a Samsung mobile phone compatible with the Prado Guide app, you will have free access to the complete content: more than 400 works commented on by experts and available in 10 languages. A different, intimate and technological way to explore art.
